Surprisingly Fun

This past weekend I got to be a part of something really fun. One of my friends came to me not long ago with an idea she had to surprise a friend of hers. It was going to be her sweet friend's 40th birthday soon, and she was dreading it. Dreading feeling older, dreading the big, looming number...4-0. And so my friend decided to do something about it.

As a professional and single mother, she knew she did not have the time or where with all to put together an event that would stun, surprise, and honor her friend. And that's when she called me. I of course was more than excited to think up ways to pull this off. And this weekend, we did. The number seemed much smaller in the presence of such love from her friends. And as she was celebrated with bright colors and delicious dinner, she realized that being 40 wasn't going to be all that bad. In fact, she felt pretty great about it. And that's why I love to celebrate.

  1. It may not seem like a big deal at first, but an uncelebrated milestone is a tragedy. I'm glad you were able to step in and save the day.

  2. What a wonderful perspective!

  3. Melissa,
I love love that header photo!
    this is a new space?

and as someone who turned fourty a few years ago :), that gesture was priceless. This is love in action.

    good to "see" you.
